Any thing with seeds in it is technically a fruit scientifically but culturally things like bell peppers and avocados and tomatoes are counted as vegetables.

If it has seeds (no matter how small - i.e. banana) it's a fruit.
No seeds? It's a veggie.

apple is fruit. tomato is botanically considered a fruit, but nutritionally considered a vegatable.
The definition of fruit is that the plant has a flower bloom and get fertilized to make the food. So zucchinis, bellpeppers, and squash are all fruits, too (botanically, but not nutritionally).

Well actually, a tomato has been classified as a vegetable for years. But this has recently been modified because of the seeds in a fruit. But if a tomato can be classified as a fruit then can an avacado? Or a cucumber? If they can then yes. Tomatoes and apples are both fruits.
