my temperature is just a hair under 99. but my normal is 98.6 or lower. I feel like I have a fever, my throat is sore and I have no appetite. I have alternated between being hot and having the chills. Can you get a fever when you are starting to come down w/ a cold? Its new years eve and I have company over. but this rlly sucks

I got my flu shot this year, so its not that, but I just feel all around not good. And i'm terrified of being sick. I have emetophbia so I'm scared of throwing up. I'm also afraid to go to bed because I think I have a fever and if I go to sleep I will probably have a fever dream

Your body is telling you that it is sick. Listen. You can take those flu shots and still get the flu. They are shoot you for last years flu because they don't know what is coming down the street for this year.
Make yourself a bed on the sofa, have your friends over to wait on you and enjoy the end of this year with a quiet sofa rest.
Fluids (not alcohol), aspirin for the fever (no alcohol with aspirin) some good chicken soup. and some rest. If you get tired during the evening, go to the bedroom and give someone the key to lock up when everyone leaves.
Have a better tomorrow.

Its a mild fever. Not a big deal. Get some asprin, tylenol or any other sh*t that helps fevers.

Call your company, or if it is too late, put a note on your door that you are coming down with a virus or cold and you do not want them to get it. That the get-together is canceled. They will thank you for it.
My husband started with a low grade of fever and sore throat.....it was pneumonia. Have someone take you to the ER if you get worse. Do not try to drive. Call an ambulance if you have no one to go with you. Do not call a taxi, you will make them sick too.
OR call your doctor's office and tell the nurse what is happening to you and ask her to call in a prescription for you. Look in your telephone book's yellow pages and find a druggist that will deliver to you door.

Try to be positive. Maybe you could try some hot Cinnamon tea with some honey, this is good for your throat. And maybe is good that you take 2 tylenol cold and flu. Take care and Happy New Year!

I'm feeling ya on this one. I've been fighting a cold or something for 2 weeks and it hit me today! According to my bo-bo thermator, I have a temp of 99.3, but I'm usually under the normal temp range. What a way to ring in the New Year!
Just try not to stay up too late because if you don't get any rest it will get worse. Drink lots of water, take a couple of Tylenol and bundle up tonight when you get in bed- the best thing to do is sweat it out. I hope you (and me) feel better- best wishes.

No, a hair under 99 is not a fever. But you sound like you're getting sick.
Drink extra fluids and take it easy tonight. If you're drinking alcohol watch taking any kind of cold medicine, interactions.
There are some new cold remedies that you can take when you first start to get sick, they are supposed to help your symptoms. I tried Airborne and Cold-Eez with my last sore throat. I didn't get sick and felt better within a day or two. Some people also swear by Zycam.
Hope you feel better & this doesn't ruin your night.

Well if you are are a slight bit under 100 then maybe just keep checking up every minutes here or there and try taking some tylenol or throat lasanjes to help loosen up your throat and i hope you have a happy new year.
