You should go to a doctor as this may be a sign of arterial disease causing claudication (decreased blood flow and oxygen causing muscle cramps).

could be Sciatica nerve if the pain travels down the back of your body.

It may be bursitis. The bursa is a sac that is supposed to cushion the tendons near the hip bone. When the bursa becomes inflamed it can cause pain in the buttock that can be felt down the leg as well.

You can ease it with cold packs and exercise, but I recommend you see a doctor who may prescribe muscle relaxants and/or pain killers.

This sounds like sciatica from the back. Try putting a pillow under your knees at night when you sleep to take the pressure off your lower back, you'll see once you've tried it.
