I am neither a Christian nor an Atheist, but I'll take a stab.

I think mom should have responded, not reacted to her son. She should have remained calm and objective and had a conversation with her son.

Flying off the handle, threating to with hold Christmas presents (what does gift giving have to do with god?) and threatening church on a weekly basis is not constructive.

The BEST part of the video is (I presume the man is his dad) the boy's father! Dad sits there quietly and doesn't say a thing! He knows the program! Poor fellow.

using religion as an excuse for bad parenting

I am an Athiest and i am disgusted by that.
How dare the mother act like that she should support his decision as he is the only one who can make it, you cannot force your religion on somebody who does not beleive it. Its like you saying your favorite colour is blue but your mum telling you that it has to be red, it can't be done.

P.S. you would never see an Athiest parent try to force their beliefs onto their children we let them make up their own minds.

The description is pretty accurate...

She's pissed and ignorant. I'm guessing she doesn't get the idea of "free will" or "love" or well, pretty much anything that being a Christian is supposed to be about. Christians are supposed to be "like Christ" and I don't think she looked too much like him in that clip.

- Christian.

It shows the bullying that Christian parents do to intimidate children, to force them to say they are Christian. The state does it in a similar way.

When I was in the Navy I was told that I could not fill in any forms with Atheist or None in the religious section.

It also shows the bul**** that Christians would have us believe about Christmas. IE that it is a festival about Christ and that all the aspects are thus so. The giving of presents at the mid winter fest is much older than Christianity.

I'm Christian..
Seems the Mother has got a little potty mouth going there.
Her talking to her son about God while cursing doesn't exactly set a good example.

It sounds like she's more concerned about her son being religious and following along with all the rites that go with it..than actually having any real relationship with God.
