Hi Mary...generally not after they have been neutered. However, there are some exceptions if they have been spraying urine for some time prior to neutering which has become habitual.

If your cat has been inappropriately urinating he may have a lower urinary tract disorder which would require immediate medical attention.

Oh yes he can if he's wanting to. I had Fred tamed down (former feral), he was neutered at about 4 years of age. Two years after being neutered I'd see him spray one or two bushes outside after sniffing them over. He never tried it in the house (thank goodness!) but he'd unleash a steady stream at the bushes, tail up and standing on tip toe, for up to 20 seconds. This was right after taking a pee outside. I have NO idea what kind of capacity his bladder had. After all, he'd supposedly emptied it when he peed by the garden. But he had enough to do a pretty solid stream for 20 seconds (I counted).

My male cat has never peed in the house not even since he was a kitten, and when he was spayed he never did then. He's always done that in the neighbours garden ;)

My male cat sprayed after he was spayed. It was usually after another cat came and sprayed our patio grill and he re-claimed it.

I think it depends on the cat. I've had many cats and never had a problem, but my last male cat (a persian) sprayed EVERYTHING.If it gets to be a real problem i'd ask a vet about how to prevent it.

Male and female cats both spray. Even after they have been altered.

No, I don't think so. You should go and see a vet for it.
