Keep reading. Talk with Christians. Talk with people of other religions. Talk with Atheists. Discussion and reading is the key to learning. Sometimes, our faith becomes stronger when it is questioned or challenged.

Each time you sit down to read the Bible, before you open it up, say a quick prayer to the Holy Spirit, that He will help you understand the Biblical teachings that you will be reading.
Also, don't be afraid to admit to yourself that some Bible teachings are beyond our own ability to understand without the help of others. Therefore, don't hesititate to ask/discuss your ideas and opinions on Scriptures with others, particularly those who legitimately know something about Scripture.
Above all, be patient. There is a wealth of knowledge that the Bible imparts. Too much to absorb in a single reading. I'll bet that a year from now, you will not believe how much you have learned, and you will gain appreciation for what you still have to learn.
It's likely to be a learning experience that will continue for the rest of your life. But I mean that in a very good and exciting way.

Do just what you are doing... if you do have a question you might find uncomfortable asking someone in person feel free to email me... I am of The True Christian Faith... I for sure do not "know it all" but one honest question will receive one honest answer to the best of my ability
some times there are questions we just do not ask because we do not want to look foolish... or we are afraid that the others of the church will think we are "doubting" and that our faith is weak... or any number of other reasons...
Do try to get involved with a study group... I am sure there is one or more in your congregation... do not be afraid to go to the "old folks" group... if they are doing as they should they will welcome you and offer what assist they can... if they do not, let me know and I will have a talk with them about reaching out to a brother in need.

Get involved in an in depth Bible study with a group. There are many materials on the market from which to choose, just go to a local Christian book store or go on line. Women enjoy any of the Beth Moore series. That's just one example. I'm sure there are group studies for teens, I'm just not up on that. Perhaps your pastor or youth director would be interested in starting a once a week study in your church. It's basically up to you to get involved. If your church doesn't provide it, then ask around and find it somewhere else, or start your own. I think it's great you are thirsty for the Word. Bless you.

If there's a Bible study group or some similar organization at your church, take advantage of that. Learning about the Bible with other people helps a lot.

PRAY. You need to increase your daily prayer life. You can set aside some quiet time for prayer. I highly recommend you pray during everyday tasks, such as driving, studying, chores, etc. God bless. Blessed NEw YEar!

Participate in a Bible study through your church or a youth group.
Get involved in some mission work -- that's hands-on life experience of living out your faith.
You are awesome -- like many 18 year olds that I know who want to learn more about their faith.
