Component cables only produce a resolution of 480p and is an analog signal. HDMI is the digital standard. A HDMI cable will allow you to get the maximum resolutions of 720p and 1080i from your television. HDMI cables can even utilize a 1080p signal. The difference between 480p component and 720p HDMI is INCREDIBLY huge. You most deffintely need to spend the extra cash and go for HDMI.

DO NOT buy a Monster or any other overpriced cable. TRUST me and go to monoprice.com. They have any type of cable made with very high quality and a GREAT price.

it'll look a little better than the component cables but not by much. If you had a 1080p tv then you'd see a difference.

I have a 1080i LCD HDTV with the PS3 HDMI cable and from my perspective there is only a small difference. I would recommend getting an HDMI cable anyway in case you ever want to watch BluRay/HD-DVDs, plus, the single HDMI cable provides everything you need to play a game/watch movies, opposed to the 2-3 AV cables.

Stick with component, I have a 26" LCD and i tried my ps3 on both cables and i couldn't tell the diff. HDMI gave me the option of 720p or 1080i but again no difference. So stick with component unless you find a HDMI with a good price, for a smaller 720p TV theres little to no difference.
