Are these people too square for normal stuff, who hate sex, and are generally uptight? Do they drink prune juice? Are they pimply virgins?

I spent New Year's Eve shampooing my carpets and waxing my floors. The wildest thing I plan on doing tonight is to finish reading my book.
I don't think I am in any position to make fun of anyone else for being "too square".

I don't go to a church New Year's party - but for the past few years - I've gone to a New Years meditation. It's very nice because people all over the world are meditating for peace at the same time.
If the people from my church were to have a New Years party - there would be lots of fun - alcohol (gasp!), great music - and no sex right there - but probably a lot after folks got home. Maybe some virgins would be there - and maybe some of them would have pimples. But - I bet that will be the case at YOUR New Year's eve party too!

Hi! Well...uhhh...me, for one and I'm really very normal. I had a good time with friends and their families and didn't have to watch people getting sloshed. When you've had alcoholism tear apart your family, it's hard to watch people destroying themselves or others lives. I could party in a fun way without alcohol. We had keroke and danced just like everyone else and could still drive at the end of the night! (Oh, and by the way, sex is great too! I have an awesome husband!)

Actually, they tend to be good people who care enough to pray for peace and the needs of others in the new year. I've got friends who attend Watch Night services every year at their church, and the church members have a nice meal together after midnight.
Seems like a lot nicer way to spend the time than waking up on New Years Day with a splitting headache and feeling like a herd of buffalo did something unspeakable in your mouth.

Some churches are fun on New Years Eve. This year I'm going to a party at my cousins house, but honestly, I would rather be at church than go to the party. Not just any church though. And no I'm not "lame, have pimples, hate sex, or uptight". I'd rather be safe and go somewhere I dont have to pay to bring in the new year.

They are Christians who don't find it fun to get wasted and would much rather spend their time with family and friends who love the Lord and aren't in the bathroom, buzzing or puking!!!

They are just a group of people who worship together and decide to have a celebration together. It stands to reason they would hang out with the people they are friends with, and the church building is available for purposes like that.
Personally, I'd rather have my teens there, rather than out at a wild party. At least I know at a church, they won't get drunk, or worse.

They usually don't drink and don't want to spend New Year's as somebody else's designated driver. So they go to church and play games, eat a lot, talk to friends, wear the usual silly hats, watch fireworks if there are any, and say a prayer as the New year comes in. Pretty tame stuff, admittedly. But if they have fun, what's the problem?

People go to church parties on New Years to be with the other people who do not drink, swear, have sex and other things that their regilion is against. They also go to pray for the people they know and love to let them have a wonderful New Year. There are several answers to that question and you will hear probably a lot of different answers.
