I am very sorry about your Cockatiel. You could try leaving it's cage outside with food & water and the door to the cage open. Some people have tried this with success (even with smaller birds). But depending on the weather and how long it's been gone, unfortunately the chances are often slim. You could also place an ad in your local newspaper, and contact local vets & pet shelters/humane society.
At this point, anything is worth trying. Just put the word out.

If you don't find your bird, hopefully someone will and give it a good home. My cockatiel was found 7 years ago, by my nephew who was working on a roof. The owner was never found, but he has a good home, with me, and is a very happy bird. But I know, how upset you must be. Good luck.

there is a yahoo group called 911 parrot alert. Go to yahoo groups and put in 911 parrot alert in the search to find it. Also put the cage outside with food incase he sayed close. Get some flyer made to put up in the area.
