At six weeks he is still a bit young to have left his mother and be totally reliant on food. He is probably constipated due to being fed inappropriate food - cooked kibble with grains and vegetables.

Give him some raw meat to help loosen his stool. Forget the pumpkin and fibre as this will not aid his digestion at all. Look into a species suitable raw diet for your dog - a pup started this way will benefit for life.

Scooting could be worms or clogged anal glands. Dogs squat & cry/whine while trying to poop when constipated. If he is having pain while pooping & then scoots, it could be anal glands are irritated. The vet or an experienced groomer can check his anal glands. Every puppy should be on wormer because moms can pass worms to them in utero & through milk. Worms encyst in females & awaken to pass to puppies during her pregnancy & nursing, so that even worm free (fecal tested) mom's can pass them on to their puppies. At 6 weeks, he should still be nursing from momma, since he's not, his kibble should be soaked a few minutes prior to feeding so that he gets ample water. This should help prevent constipation.

You can give it pumpkin or even a little mineral oil.

You may want to follow up with your vet - b/c of his young age. If your pup is still having problems in the morning - call your vet just to be sure. In the mean time, here's some suggestions:

You could try giving your pup a very small amount of bran cereal. (It works on dogs just like it does on people). I had an elderly dog who would get stopped up from time to time. I'd give him the bran flakes from raisin bran cereal (but not the raisins).

Make sure your pup has plenty of water.

Also try taking your pup for a walk around the block. A walk will usually get things moving.
