sex hangups like the exposure of nipples on tv, than we do about innocent women and children getting blown up abroad?
Is it because they are foreign and brown? Does this reflect americas warped and backward view of what is morality?

His divine shadow- Nope I'm not saying that at all. Just that how america values foreign people, the fact that you don't understand what i was getting at is dissapointing to put it kindly

peter s- the 'corrupt leaders' you are talking about represent the majority of americans, he represents middle america perfectly well.

His Divine- I have seen plenty of evidence thankyou, You are the one making sweeping generalisations about me. You just hate me because you disagree with me and my questions.

Great question.

Look at our president, he is more concerned with two consenting adults getting married than providing healthcare for children.

Idiotic religious dogma has infected our government.

Why do people always use a few closed-minded people to group all Americans. Honestly, I think your view of Americans is just as backward and warped as you think American morality is. Not all of us are sex oriented jerks who care more about getting their next fix than about the problems going on in the world. While there are several ignorant people in American society, quite a few of us are fairly well-educated and care more about the world than most people give us credit for. How about we all try something really unique. Drop the "Ignorant American" stereotype and start thinking outside our little boxes.

Do not generalize please.
Nope, I don't care about flashing nipple on TV. Big deal! That Janet Jackson public frenzy was one of the stupidest things I have seen in my life. I do care about innocent civilians killed in wars around the world. And, mostly wars they do not understand, too. It is just not right!

I have to qualify your question by adding the word "many" Americans. I say that because I'm in agreement with you, but not total agreement.

Sadly, our Puritanical roots seem to be lingering on in some portions of our population. But don't be fooled. Many Americans DO care. I cried over the loss of Bhutto. Thousands of American soldiers have given their lives in wars involving the security of the "foreign and brown." Many of us care.

Unfortunately, some of our most vocal and prominent figures are white and wealthy. They have no reason to care about anyone besides themselves.

Also, some of us ARE foreign and brown. My father is. He's an American citizen and has been for over 30 years. But he still looks like a foreigner, has an accent, and gets treated as a foreigner.

But it happens less frequently all the time.

So, it's better than you think it is. It just so happens that the faces you see in our media represent a minority, and it isn't the ethnic minority.

Nuance is not a key factor in today's media culture.

"What's going on in Pakistan?" = I'm confused

"Britney took her pants off again!" = I'm outraged!!! blah blah blah blah blah

Don't use a small group of close minded people to stereotype all americans.

I am very sure americans have a problem with women and children getting blown up in other countries, but what can we do? Boobs on TV is something that americans can fix from not happening again

Our morality, in general, is definitely twisted and hypocritical. There are a few of us who have it somewhat together. We're not all bad.

More closely it´s the american christians, and they get excited by anything they see. They are vey sexually undernurised.

I don't care about an errant piece of nudity on television - it's a human body people need to get over it.

However, it is a travesty that innocent people are getting killed all over the world. I care far more about that than a flashing Janet Jackson.

Wouldn't you be more concerned if someone was breaking into your house than someone else's?
