I just lost a lot of precious pics becasue my stupid laptop deleted them, and I know the only way to get them back is to download photo recovery software.
Is there and good sites that are safe and free?
I don't want to ruin my laptop casue its new, so it needs to be safe and somthing you've used before.

amybeader! Help me!
I tried what you said but it didn't find the lost pics.
Thanks so much for your help though.
Can you help me again? Here's more details.

So here's exactly what happened.
I plugged in my camera on to my coumputer.
I clicked 'Open folder to view files'
When the folder opened that was supposed to have my pics in it, it only had old pics in it.
It seemed to have erased only the pics that I took in Chicago, which were the ones I wanted.
I unplugged the camera, and looked through it, and only my newer Chicago pics were gone!

Im really frustrated casue I can never get those back.
If there's nothing I can do about it (which I really hope isn't the case), can you atleast tell me what happened. I don't want any answers that say "Nope, nothing you can do." Casue that seriously wont help me.
It was nothing I did, casue I load my pics like that all the time, and this was the first time it deleted them.
Thanks.

Okay, not sure if this will help, but when you say your laptop deleted your pics, is it just that they are suddenly not there or do you know for sure you did something that made the laptop delete them? I've heard of files disappearing (they are no longer where you think they should be) but that they can be found. I don't think there is any free file recovery software out there, certainly nothing I'd trust.(No such thing as just photo recovery software. Ultimately pics are files.)

Can you give some more info, how you realized they were gone, what kind of laptop, how you'd stored the pics, etc.?

And here's some more, it's bit complicated so bear with me (I asked my husband who is the technogeek in our house).

I'm assuming your laptop is a PC running Windows? If so, go to the Start button at the bottom left (usual place for it) Click on that. It will bring up a menu, from the menu select Search>Files and Folders. That will bring up a search window. Click on the choice you should see "all files and folders" enter *.jpg* and select in the "Look in" area your C drive (the *.jpg* is telling it to find all .jpg files, which is usually what your photos will be) Click search. If you see your photos showing up in the window, you can right-click on one, select "properties" from the popup menu. It will show you a file path/location, that is, where the file is stored, and other stuff. At the bottom of the properties box look for "Attributes" if the "hidden" is checked, it means the file is there, but you can't see it when you look for it. Uncheck that, and your file should show up again. Now there may be a way to uncheck that on all your files that you don't want hidden, but I don't know what it is, so you'd have to right click each one and uncheck it.

Another suggestion: don't store your pics on the laptop, or at least, don't keep them just there. Consider storing them on an external drive or (this may be easier) burning some CDs on your laptop so you always have copies kept elsewhere besides the laptop. good luck!

Try PC Inspector File Recovery 4
http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm

It recovers deleted files, not just image files, and it's free.
Hope this helps.

Maybe as a final attempt try PC Inspector File Recovery. Do a search at snapfiles freeware to download it...

Theres no such thing as safe, if your pics are deleted, then you need file recovery software to undelete/recover them.

If you meant the pics are damaged, ie, half the pic is missing, then save your time, its almost impossible to repair them.

Asoftech and Wondershare are both scams. They let you try it for free and it looks like you have lots of files. When you buy it you get nothing. Asofteck is from China
