I'm curious, how many people got a new puppy for Christmas and had no clue what they were getting themselves into? I've seen alot of posts this last couple of days: "Why does my puppy bite?" "I hate my new puppy!" "My new puppy won't potty outside or on the paper, etc"

So how many of y'all got a puppy for Christmas?

How many bothered to research breed and puppy behavior and needs?

How many are having regrets?

we got a puppy for christmas.
except we've been considering this forever and waited until we got a house.

we didn't bring the dog into the house right into christmas either, we got it about 4 days before.

plus it was just the immediate family, so the dog did not get added stress from other family members and holiday events.

also, we've already owned a shih tzu (we adopted another shih tzu) so we're pretty much experienced. ;)

i have NO REGRETS what-so-ever!

i love my puppy very much, even though he's a rather stubborn dog...*sigh* haha. but we love him very much anyways.

its a shame when people get into the holiday hype and not really realize how big of a commitment a dog really is.

so i know what you're talking about. i can relate.

Reputable breeders and most rescue organizations will NOT sell puppies before and/or around Christmas time. So hopefully everyone with Christmas puppies planned accordingly for their puppies arrival before the big come-home day.
"Surprise" Christmas puppies are a terrible idea.

Wait, puppies dont come fully potty trained?

And we are supposed to research them?

What kind of snob are you. If Paris Hilton can have a dog, why can't I? She says its ok to buy from Pet Stores, so it must be! If they were so bad, they'd be illegal. Don't you be cruel and tell me where I can buy a dog from. Who do you think you are?

When I'm fed up with my christmas teacup morkie, I'll just dump her at a high-kill shelter. I mean GOD, I pay taxes for a reason.

It's not like I can afford vet care anyway.

Ive never got a dog for Christmas but i have gotten one after or before Christmas. I have no regrets for getting them. When they are young they nibble and bite just because they are teething not because they hate you or something. You cant just get a new puppy and think it will be a breeze. You need resonibility.

I asked for a puppy, didn't get one. Thank god, I wanted a Aussie now I want a Pom. I'm a fickle person and I am happy my parents took that into consideration.

I have never gotten a puppy for Christmas. I wouldn't allow my parents to give me one because Im more responsible than that.
