I chose a best answer to my question carefully, because I wanted to make sure everyone was respected and treated equally. After close examination of all answers, I ended up choosing this one: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071230211730AASmy1c&cp=2

The best answerer completely answered my question, explaining the reasons she refuses the existence of God, although I disagreed with her reasons.

Tonight I would like to know from all of you whether my views are flawed or contemptible regarding the natural existence of God, the creator for all things.

In accordance ro an Atheist “ I simply cannot believe what I can’t see.”

Of course not all Atheists believe in the same thing. Everyone has different point of views of life.

It is true we can’t see God visibly, but that is because God is not a Human-being, or “ Thing”

This is a problem that causes most people to become Atheists; they think God is supposed to be a Human, Animal or “Something”, and since God is not, then it cannot be seen with the sight of our eyes. But of course we were all born with common sense. If you bought a pair of leather shoes and found the bottom of the shoes dirty and suspicious of being worn before, then you may believe such pair of leather shoes have been worn by someone else, and you may refuse to purchase it. Of course you “did not see” who worn the pair of leather shoes, but your common informed you of enough information you needed.

The same can be said about God existence. You came into a world unconsciously, although your parents made such decision consciously to bring you to the world “they” were conceived in “unconsciously”, and realized the world wasn’t created by you, your mother, father, sister or brother. So your common sense would tell you that there must be a God, the creator of all things, even though you cannot see it, just as how you never saw who wore the pair of leather shoes.

Of course the dirt from the leather shoes is adequate evidence that the shoes was worn by someone before, just as how the world, including us, is adequate evidence that there is a God.

“ I simply can’t force myself to believe something I don’t.”

Of course I once could not believe that someone could survive from a bullet to its heart. But since I acknowledged that all things are possible, I then believed it. And I didn’t have to force myself to believe.

The same can be said about God. Since all things are possible, then there could be a God

“ I can’t grasp the concept of God creating earth and people.”

In order to comprehend God’s existence, we MUST use humans concept. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. If you can’t grasp the concept of God, then you won’t be able to grasp the concept of who you are. Note you came here unconsciously, which is previously mentioned.

“ I can’t see how Heaven and Hell can be possible.”

If your existence here on earth is possible without a solution making it possible, then why Heaven and Hell should require a solution to make them possible? The mighty key to our answers regarding God’s existence is called “ faith”

For example: When you buy the lottery ticket, you aren’t hoping to win, but rather having faith that you will win. If you are “hoping” to win, then you will eventually stop buying lottery tickets, for human beings don’t hope for long, especially when they keep losing. And since we use “faith” playing the lottery, we continue to support it, even though we keep losing. And if you quit playing the lottery, then it means you lose faith playing it.

To finalize my question, is it safe to say there is no God?

No it is not.. and here's why..

A devout Evangelical posed it to me this way when I was some 25 years younger--------

He said " If I live my life in a pious manner, making my best efforts not to sin and to shame myself in the eyes of God.. and it ends up that there is no God.... then I have lived a pious life, though I wasted the opportunities to enjoy more human pleasures"...

BUT------

he continued, " If I live a life full of sin without thought of the consequences and there IS a God... then I will have surely lost my soul forever"

" I'd rather not take that chance" were his closing words...

It is safe to say there is no god IMHO, but it doesnt go down well with me.

To single out a young person who has been brought up with out the basics of Christianity, doesn't go down with me.

It proves that if you are brought up with God, it is up to you to reject him.
The same goes for Vegetarians and Vegans.

Believe what you wish, Jews, Christians and Muslims all see the same god through differing eyes.

Dwell on this all, and have a happy New Year.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be
greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career
however humble;
it is a real possession in the
changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you
to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit
to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham,
drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

I can't see the oxygen I breathe but I know it's real. I can't see the love my husband has for me but I feel it and know it's there. There is no way to prove the existence of God to someone who requires something they can see with natural eyes, hear with their ears and touch with their hands. Knowing God requires belief and faith. Some people will never have that. And I'm sorry for them. They are missing so much!.....Blessings!

Statistically, it's certainly safer for a bunch of people to say there is no god, than for a bunch of people to insist that there is one. After all, when's the last time you've heard about a group of atheists killing and persecuting others in the name of "nothingness"?

Some of your understandings seem flawed. Faith seems to stand out quite a bit.

I have faith in God. It is not based on hopeful thinking. Rather, It is based on the evidences placed before me. Hope, in a worldly sense would be in a lottery ticket. Trust, in a spiritual sense would be in God. Faith is what allows be to see the difference. The evidence towards faith is nature its self. It is too complex and harmonious to be accidental. It is too intricate to be a factor in probability. It is too beautiful to be sustained and embellished by survival selection. The Bible and its intrinsic truths both spiritually and physically prove themselves even tho this is circle logic. It is still valid. Some things just prove themselves. Given all of the scientific information, historical truths, and Biblical truths; these together bring faith as an answer.

Having faith allows me to see the spiritual significance of our existence. This develops into a growing trust in God as I see His involvement in the world. I realize that He is in control and that I am not. I can control only a little of myself. So trust in God to deal with the rest is but only a practical decision to make. Faith makes it possible to allow Him to operate in my life.

His existence is proven by nature. His existence is proven by a written document that shows its uniqueness over again every day through its truths in science, history, physiology, and promises. He proves His existence in lives changed and events in those lives that have no other answer but God.

Since there is a God, and He is so irrefutably proven; His dictates are to be heard and accepted. The one in question at this time is found in John 3:18

well we didnt believe in dinosaurs until we found their bones

I didnt believe in God until I found Him...

its a spiritual sense

I think its such a waste of time to even try to make something that has so much proof spiritually FALSE because there is no logical explanation

The answer to your question depend on where you are living....Under Christian and post christian Western culture it is absolutely safe although you might suffer consequences in the next life.

Under atheistic communism it may well be unsafe NOT to say it..

In areas under the sway of Islam atheism is nt well tolerated so if you say there is no God you might want to do so under your breath.

And so on.....

Freedom of Religion (including the right to reject God) is a Christian principle as much as Atheists would like to claim otherwise.

Growing up I became a pretty devout atheist, then became a xtian for awhile not all that long ago, then after a lot of research became the biggest atheist ever.

I would reccomend studying some of these religions, and seeing where the fairy tales come from. All religions are basically based off of simple astronomy, and astrology for the most part. It's the worship of the Sun and the Stars, some other religions worship other planets, Judaism for instance comes from an ancient egyptian Osiris cult that worshipped the planet Saturn, which the Old Testament is based off of. Christians, they worship the Sun of the New Testament, Jesus... who if you do a little research you'll find is nothing more than the Sun in the Age of Pisces.

There have been numerous other Sun Gods before Christ that were born of a virgin on Dec. 25th, it's what the stars in the sky do. On Dec. 25th if you were to look to the East at dusk you'd see the belt of Orion begin to rise in a vertical formation, the 3 wise men. The only time of year they do this. Then as the night goes on you'll see the constellation Virgo rise up and give birth to the Sun in the morning. Dec. 25th marks the day the Sun begins its return to the northern hemisphere after rising in the same place for 3 days after winter solstice. That's all it is.

Christians have personified the Sun and the story of the Zodiac into this Jesus Character.

Unless you figure out where their bs comes from, you'll still be somewhat muddled into their good and evil duality bs, and you won't have any good replies for them. I suggest checking out these movies on video.google.com for starters

If you were fully convinced there was no God, you wouldn't even be asking the question, now, would you??

BECAUSE, By the deeds of the law there shall no person be justified in God’s sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin and all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:20, 23
THEN, They all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:12 Also I say unto you, whosoever shall confess me (Jesus) before men, him shall the Son of man (Jesus) also confess before the angels of God: But he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. Luke 12:8-9
HOWEVER, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
FOR, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me. John 14:6
THEREFORE, If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. Romans 10:9
THEN, He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white robes; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5
SO, That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:15
