what are some good things to eat for someone who has hypoglycemia

Foods that are high in unsaturated fats and high density cholesterol (many types of nuts, fish, olive oil) are among the best foods for hypoglycemia, with the benefit of lowering heart attack risk. Otherwise, you can eat almost anything by combining different types of foods to keep the calories from sugar at a low level. Some people try to avoid carbohydrates all together, but this isn't necessary.

When you feel a hypoglycemic event coming on, its best to combine a sugary food, like fruit with a high-fat food like almonds - the sugar provides an immediate spike in blood sugar, and the nuts provide a more long-term, slow-release.

The main thing is to eat something, when you feel the symptoms. Orange Juice,or Candy kisses provide a fast sugar fix.

protein and nuts are good to have as regular snacks. if you do have a round of symptoms treat it with orange juice but make sure to have protein with it to avoid a sugar crash
