Hi I was thinking buying a small cooking grill & I want to use it on my balcony. But, can I do that? Is it fine?

My balcony it is metal built & not wood.

I don't think you want to take a chance at anthing catching fire do you? I is dangerous!!!!!

It depends on the fire codes in your area. Most require that a grill be a certain number of feet from the building. Most balcony's do not meet the code. If you live in an apartment - your complex leasing office will be able to tell you if the fire codes allow it.

Where they are illegal, charcoal grills are the culprit. Gas grills are normally allowed because they're safer.

Lighting up a charcoal grill is what brings on dangers so if they let you, you're probably OK with a gas grill, though you'll sacrifice that hickory taste...

I'm not certain if the property is your residence, but in a rental property I lived in, we were not allowed to use a grill on the balcony because the balcony was wood. Using a grill could be a fire hazard.
