Sorry if TMI, but yesteday I came home from dinner and tried to have a bowel movement (which I did) and when I wiped it was red. Then I noticed in the toilet it was pretty red too. I just figured maybe it was cause from wiping too hard. But it really scared me, and then I looked it up online and saw all the reasons that could cause it such as ulcers and cancer and hemmeroids. To contact a dr, would I contact my OBGYN or my regular dr. I really need some advice.

It's not gross, don't worry. It's probably a hemorrhoid - just a blood vessel that burst if you pushed too hard. They do heal. Sometimes surgery is necessary if the hemorrhoid is really large. As it heals, it might itch quite a bit. Tucks medicated pads and Preparation H work well.
However, if you keep having bleeding, I would suggest seeing either your gyn or regular physician. Either one is fine and can diagnose the problem. Just hold off for a couple of days, have a few more bowel movements and see if there's still any bleeding.

I don't think anyone else answering this question should be trying to diagnose the problem. Someone even stated a diagnosis, and then told the questioner not to self-diagnose! While chances are it is nothing serious, nobody is qualified to diagnose your problem for you unless he/she is a doctor and examines you. If you are worried about it, that is reason enough to go to your family doctor, but I would urge you to go anyway, especially if you notice any more redness in your stool or even if you are having problems with constipation. Your family doctor will ask you questions, examine you, and will either be able to diagnose your problem or, if necessary, refer you to a specialist. I usually don't get on this page and say anything about the others who are answering questions. But frankly I am amazed at the number of people who seem to believe they can diagnose the problem. Like I said, it may be a minor problem. You should try not to borrow trouble before you have it. At least that's my attitude. Hopefully, your family doctor will be able to put your mind at ease. And try not to worry about the variety of "diagnoses" offered by others in response to your question. The only diagnosis that counts is the one by your doctor. If you doubt your doctor's diagnosis, or you remain concerned, by all means, get a second opinion.

most likely is is just a ruptured hemorrhoid that is bleeding and this will heal on it's own because you either pushed too hard or it is just a week spot in the hemorrhoid, but your doctor will be able to help you with some creams. and welcome to the rewards of old age!

I had something like that and it turned out to be what's called a fistula which is like a small infected sore around the anus. You need to go to a proctologist and have it checked out.

You do not need to contact anyone. You have given yourself a tear in the lining of your rectum from the hard bowel movement. Unless you are passing large amounts of blood with clots present along with weakness and abdominal cramping, it will stop on its own. You need to increase your daily water intake, increase your daily fresh fruit and vegetable (both raw and cooked) intake and your stools will be softer and you won't have this again.

you need to make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. more than likely the cause of your bleeding is either ahemmorhoid or perhaps a fissure which is nothing more than a small tear in the rectal area.
if you strained while having the bowel movement, this could aggrivate both of these situations. what you need to do is get a stool softener that makes it easier for thinsg to pass. if you have an hemmorhoid they are easy to treat, a fissure is also treatable. i would make an appointment to a gastroenterologist as soon as possible so thinsg to get worse.
