"If you can't educate, medicate."
Get off the drugs. There is **always** a reason for "feeling down." It doesn't sound like you're a victim of chemical depression. When a doctor doesn't have a clue what to do they prescribe.
Your sleeping and craving of sleep is probably because you've always had someone ELSE fill your days, make you feel fulfilled . . . and sleeping and candy nurtures that "feelgood" spot. Like the other things that have filled your life, they're losing their effectiveness.
You need to get off the drugs and fill your life with something that gives you joy, whatever that is. No, not family, friends . . . . find that thing about YOU that says who you are. Find your passion. Pursue it. That's really all there is to it, finding what you're about and making it real. Once you do this, you won't have time to feel down.
Stop wasting time, none of us are getting any younger, we don't have time to waste. :-)

Well you're not alone, that's for sure! I'm going through the same thing. I'm going to take the exercise suggestion and Weds. when my dr.s office is opened, I'm calling for a referral to see a professional. Good luck to you..it really sucks! We'll pull through though!

Hello:
Healing is on the way.
Allow yourself to feel your true feelings of sadness, grief, hurt, and anger, then you can get to some joy. But you have to be honest with yourself as to what you are really angry about. Anger is a secondary emotion, under the anger is the other feelings that I mentioned.
Get some pillows and a baseball bat, or tennis racket or some object and beat the hell out of the pillows/ and everything and everyone you are angry about or at and you will get to the grief underneath that stuff and then and only then will you be able to feel you joy. The pillows represent the people, place, or thing you are angry at.
Do this in a controlled place. Don't every hit anyone. Most people will think you are crazy for donig what I just mentioned but our society is so dishonest with the way they feel they would not know a real feeling if it came down the road. Again, this is just my opinion and you can do with it what you want. You may think I am nuts but that's ok, most people do.
You can heal yourself from this stuff if you are willing to do the work.
I hope you find some peace in your life.
Blessings

Try getting out and doing something different than your usual. It worked for me. We always call it "changing the scenery". If you can't think of anything, just go for a drive, or walk in the mall, or a park. It doesn't matter the weather or how you dress, just get out for a short time. If changing the scenery does not help, see the doctor and ask for a new prescription. Medications sometimes wear out their welcome and the body becomes immune to their effects. Also, try praying. You won't believe how that helps!

You really need to get back to the doctor. Some meds don't work for some people, and some can even make your depression worse. You need to find the right medication for you. Good luck!

talk to your doctor about the meds, try calling and seeing if you can get in to see him or her before your next appointment, or try just leaving a message but sometimes that doesn't work, or at least my old doctor wouldn't return my calls, and the new one that I am back with said that he only sees his patients at the scheduled appointments, which is why I am trying to get into this group that you see the doc more often, and have other people to talk to and help me out....

Exercise! Nothing like it to help release endorphins. My psych prof recommended this to me when I was going thru a depressive phase myself. The lethargy disappears which is great. And it's amazing how much better you feel. Good luck! I hope the new yr is better for you. : )
