Is there anything else out there besides a radar detector that detects when cops are near?

How about a wooden block under the gas peddle - avoids the ability to depress peddle to full speed.

Radar Detectors are illegal in many areas of the country and are useless with most types of current speed tracking systems anyway. The FAScar system does not use radar or any other detectable signal, and that is currently the most widely used system in the world. It, and it's technologies, will soon be the only in existence rendering all radar detectors obsolete. A CB will only work if someone else that has one sees a cop and broadcasts it, and you receive it, which doesn't happen that much. A Scanner will not work because by the time the officer calls in the stop he will already have clocked your speed and you will be caught. Besides, carrying a scanner in your car is illegal in more states than radar detectors. The bottom line is that the only way to avoid a speeding ticket is to obey the speed limit.

Speeding is useless anyway. Consider this, do the math for yourself, Say the speed limit is 55 mph. Let's say you want to do about 5 mph over, so you want to go 60 mph. IF you drive a CONSTANT speed of 60 mph, as in no slowing down or stopping, in order to shave off even 5 minutes from your total trip time, you'd have to drive for a solid hour. Since wherever you're going is probably 20 minutes away or less, you'd only save a little over a minute and half. Plus, even that goes away when you count for all the time you do less than 60 mph slowing down for traffic or stopping (and waiting) for red lights.

Obey the speed limit. This the only sure way to avoid a ticket.

Yeah, the sirens are a give away.

The cops are, too.

Don't forget the doughnuts!

AND to celebrate the New Year before it's here!

A mobile scanner if you want to keep a good ear on things...
Or a CB...
...though you're better off with a good radar detector (Escort/Beltronics or Valentine One).
