Control of the masses... plain and simple.

Identity, my friend, that is the main motivation. We are driven to find ourselves by separation, merging with the totality is considered as loosing oneself with no individuality and that is an anathema! We must realise that Individuality is as important,if not more, as universal collectivity; otherwise there is no global peace and prosperity.Definitely we do have our uniqueness/individuality and that uniqueness must play its role in and to collectivity for mutual strengthening, otherwise both would perish.

Awareness,Education,Realisation, practises and experiences towards understanding the farce of separation of individual religion and the need for universal bonding is the solution to this malady!

Well said.

You have rightly used the word "motivation", which means from outside, whereas inspiration is from inside. All religions are superimposed on to us by our society and parents. After that we identify ourselves with that particular religion, without knowing that all are same. Then you become YOU and me becomes ME.

Every religion had a different motivation.None of us were the creators of any religion and so whatever we say won't or need not necessarily be correct and every opinion woud be based on surnise and deductions made from what ever is said by the creators of the religion.Still there won;t be any finality and certainity about it .But one thing is certain .They are not alike or the same .And that is the reason for the trouble all over the world .Unless we admit this fact there is no possiblity of finding a solution t the problems arisig out of religions in the world .Again the final concept - what does it refeer to or what is meant by that .The expression is simply as vague as the religious concepts themselves .
If it is meant to be the ultimate pupose of life or the ultimate quality or nature of god, the final concepts of the various religons are DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME .They vary as much and as wide as the very pupose of their creation or the differences in the culture of the country where the religious thoughts emerged .
since all people will hold diferent opiniuons as already pointed out , it won't be in good tasrte if people honestly express their opinions, since of all the people tit is the religionists who are higly intolerant .
since every one can interpret any religious text in any way tthat he is capable of , it would be good only to report the very version of the scriptures concerned , to indicate the final concepts of the various religions .
Since it would be too much to discuss about all the religions as no one can be expected to know fully well the concepts of all the rel;igions ,one will have to restric his comments to a few religions that are known to the people here or popular in this board. They shoud be Christianity , Isalm and Hinduism.
As regards the Motivation behind these religions ,
(1). Christianity. - Mary Macdolene alone knows .and so it is futile todicuss about it and guess anything about it now..
(2) Isalm - it could be to oppose christinaity anbd to block the emergence of any further religions or may e to protect the buysiness empire of Muahammed infusing a fear of God in the minds of his employees and all others -opinions might differ and no one including the one who belongs to the religion could be right .We cannot find out from Muahmmed now .
The final goal of the religion according to its scripture itself (SURA 78-AL-NABA- THE ANNOUNCEMENT ) is to be happy for eternity with the dozens of young damsels of equal age and swelling breasts that Allah would give every believger -this is in accordance with the culture and requirements of the Arabs and not all others in th eworld . . But one thing we see in common in these two religions and in all religions is that their thought reflects their local culture and values and they can not apply to all cultures to which the people of those religions are try ing to apply their religion/faith, by hook or crook. They seem to be unaware of one simple fact that one's culture can not be imposed on all the people of the world and that any effort in that direction would generate heat and foment trouble only. That is what the world had been witnessing all along and would also continue to witness. To say that all religions have the same final concept will be wrong and offensive to them.(3) Hinduism - The culture of the people of India relating to the worship of God is named as the hindu religion .The final concept is to enable one to free himself from the cycles of birth and death .It is not sought to be enforced on all the people of the world or even all the people of the same communty , country or state .It is left to everybody to accept it or discard it .No one is required or persuaded even to know about it .This does not clash with any one unless somebody or something else insistantly comes on its ways and pesters it
It is as plain as a pike ,that each religion has its own purpose and own concept based on culture and requirement of people of the particular region wherein it emerged .They are not all the same or all alike .
Just because the word "God" is used by all the religions, theists and atheists , they don't have the same concept or identical concept .They differ widely and may be having totally opposite views .All words having the letter "A" or any other and same letter,in it , do not mean the same or have the same meaning .
All the fingers in one's own and a single and same man's palm are not the same or of the same size and look or for the same purpose .They differ and must differ. Let us accept the fact and see the reality and stop claiming superiotity and stop telling lies or making false claims .It is these things(lies , false claims and condemnation of thoughts and faiths without reason) that forment trouble .
