Is it like winning football teams and Grammy winners? Does god "protect" countries by not letting natural disasters happen the way Falwell and Robertson hint at?

People like Huckabee say we need to "take the country back for Jesus" but I want to know - what would that look like? What would happen to a country that did everything god wanted? HOW would he "favor" it?

You can tell a country has God on its side when its head of state says that Jesus is his favorite philosopher, such that he gets prayerful advice on which wars God wants the most.

Smart question. You are completely right.
If God exists, he can't take sides or he won't be a fair and loving God as all believers say. How would the Christians from other countries feel about it? Aren't their prayers so good as those from Americans?
Of course that's nonsense. That's just another way of using religion and people's ignorance to their own purposes.
Some (and I emphasize SOME) Americans think that they are the centre of the world. It is part of their ignorance.
They don't recall (because they don't read, I guess), that 200 years ago the world was very different, that 600 years ago what we call "America" wasn't there. That power and money move and change...
Poor "God" that it's being used by those people...I think I'm more respectful of him (God) that those that call themselves "believers"

Exactly.
Their prayers should be for God’s Kingdom, not for the world. (Matt. 6:10, 33) Jesus Christ disclosed as to the identity of the invisible ruler of the world (John 12:31; 14:30).

How could a person who is devoted to God’s Kingdom favor be in a conflict between nations of the world?
Jesus said of his followers: “They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world”? (John 17:16) When on earth Jesus refused to get involved in political things recognizing that his Kingdom was to be no part of this world. Even refusing to be made king.

This refutes any knowledge that God is using any nation in this world to carry out his purpose. Satan is the invisible ruler of this system, doing what he does best- keeping people in conflict with each other so that they might not see the truth about God's Kingdom that is right in front of them.

For example, we know that God favors the United States because teams from the USA consistently win the World Series (with the exception of a particularly Godless stretch in the early nineties). Indeed, God has further blessed our great nation by moving a team from that center of the humanist multicultural religion (Montreal) to the capital and greatest city on God's earth, the shining city on a hill, the one perfect place in creation, Washington DC!

As a Christian, I'm more concerned about my nation being on God's side than God being on our side. And my view of that would be nation whose policies were based on human rights, justice, and compassion.

This has been a problem for humanity from the very beginning, subsequently ending in war. Religion is the greatest contributor of intolerance and genocide. All because "My god is better than YOUR god, and WE have favor from OUR god, the ONLY god, and YOU do not!"

This is a problem that will remain for as long as there is religion.

Well, when they pray for rain in Georgia, the Mighty Creator would promptly send a storm that tears the roof off a Baptist church and injures several children -- in Tennessee.

. . . . Okay, bad example.

Umm, how about this? To demonstrate his infinite power and inescapable justice, he would send a massive hurricane to destroy a sinful city full of people who believe in him -- while completely missing the French Quarter, the sinniest neighborhood of said city.

. . . . Umm -- I got nuthin'.

God seems to really like destruction - maybe his favorite country is the one with the most WMD's.
