Romney knows that it is not a Christian faith and would be prevaricating if he said so to please the majority. His answer was honest
Why do many, including LDS members insist that they are Christians?
I have maintained that they are not Christian on this sight. I am NOT making a value judgement. They merely aren't Christian in the way that Jews are not Christian, the Moslems aren't Christian,
Baha'i aren't Christians. That is all I mean.

Frankly, who cares? Like being one form of nutcase with one imaginary friend is any better than another.

As far as I'm concerned, if someone wants to call themselves Christian, they're welcome to it - be it schizophrenia or bi-polar sans meds or whatever, it's still nuts. I'm not a doctor trying to diagnose and treat a specific disease, I'd be happy if I could simply de-lobotomize them all!

As I understand LDS, they are Christians. Most of the Book of Mormon is plagerized from The Bible. That kook Joseph Smith just added a couple extra kooky words - like he himself is on the same level as Jesus.

Doctrine and Covenants
29 And we know that all men must repent and believe on the name of Jesus Christ, and worship the Father in his name, and endure in faith on his name to the end, or they cannot be saved in the kingdom of god.

3 Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it.

Mormons are christians because:

1. They believe that Jesus Christ is the only way that they can be saved.
2. He is their lord, savior, and redeemer.
3. Because of his grace and atoning blood, we can be cleansed from sin.
4. He is the son of God. Born of Mary in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth, and dying on the Cross in Jerusalem.
5. During his life he fulfilled the Law of Moses and established his church on the Earth.
6. He is our brother and our role model. We should seek to be like him.
7. The official name of the "Mormon" church is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

go find a 3rd party UNBIASED definition of "Christian" and see if you can include yourself, but exclude the Mormons using an unbiased definition (hint...you can't).

You don't like Mormons....we get it.
You don't agree with Mormons....we get it.

But if I profess my faith, love, hope, and belief in Jesus Christ, how can you possibly say that me and 13 Million others are not Christian because you don't like us?

Here's your logic:

(You) "Humans have blue eyes and are over 6'4" tall
(You) "So, I'm a human, you are not"
(Me) Um...that's ridiculous.
(You) Shut up....you're not even a human.

See what happens when you use inaccurate definitions???

Because the Evangelicals would rise up in horror and hatred over such a claim and it would kill his candidacy. Evangelicals unfortunately are not very tolerant of those who think or believe different than they do. Much like the extremist Musslims in the middle east, if you make such a claim that Mormons are Christians too, they would be up in arms demanding blood.

What are you talking about? The simple fact that Mormons accept Christ as the savior of the world and as their personal savoir MAKES THEM CHRISTIAN. You really need therapy.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.

Most objective scholars agree that Mormons are Christian. Consider this quote from an academic book entitled “Anthology of World Scriptures” by Robert E. Van Voorst.

“…the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…see themselves as Christian, and most experts in comparative religions would view this labeling as basically correct. That they…accept the Christian Bible as their first cannon is a good indicator of this. Moreover, “outsiders” to [Christianity], such as Buddhists, would almost certainly recognize them as belonging to the stream of Christian tradition.”

Likewise, a recent poll showed that the majority of Americans believe that Mormons are Christians.

You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.

Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:

1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

The premise of your question is flawed: You're assuming that Romney actually is a Mormon. Has it really not occured to you that he's just.....

LYING???

Yes, that's what I said. Lying because he was raised in a Mormon household and thus Mormons are his natural political base. Whatever problems Mitty has reaching out to Christian or secular voters, he can't even get that far without a base to start from. Also lying because a pol is expected to have a "faith"; without one the masses of our great idiocracy won't even consider him. Or her I might add; even Beast Hillary pretends to have one....

I would like to see where Mitt Romney said that LDS aren't Christians, because he professed to be Christian several times in his "faith" speech. Can you show something else?
Either way, basing the beliefs of 14 million people on a 2 minute speech by a politician is not really a good theological base on which to judge a religion.
