Neutering a dog will not make him go insane. It will help keep him from accidently getting another dog pregnant, keep him from running (when he smells another dog in heat) and is just good common sense.

I have 5 dogs, all of them are altered(spayed/neutered). I have volunteered with a rescue for years. Never, out of the 100's of dogs I've seen altered, have any of them gone crazy because of this surgery.

Your vet can tell you when is the best time to neuter your pup.

BTW, you probably shouldn't bring him home until he's 8 weeks old. It's better for him to stay with his momma and his sibbilings until then.

1) no responsible ethical breeder wil llet a puppy go to it's new home younger then 8 weeks of age
2) in most states it is against the law to buy, sell, adopt or give away a puppy under 8 weeks

Now to answer your question spay/neuter does NOT make a dog crazy!!! Who ever you heard that from is crazy!!! Spay/neuter is the best thing you can do for your dog. He will live al onger, healthier, happier life.

about 10-12 million dogs are euthanized in shelters each year because of too many unwanted dogs..these are healthy and young dogs included..so i would say spay your dog please and thank you for being responsible..
6 months has been the standard age when vets say its ok to spay or neuter dogs...thats been the safe age for years so if there were major health problems theyd be seen by now and the age would have been changed, so 6 months is ok.
if you get a female, you want to be sure you spay her before her first heat cycle (at 6 months), this eliminates any chance of mammary cancer (mammary tumor is the number one tumor in unspayed dogs)

the dogs dont go crazy when you spay or neuter..if anything they get calmer. also, it helps them mentally since they wont have the instinct drive to run away from you and mate.

If you don't want to have puppies, neuter him. Dogs can act so much better when neutered. They'll be less territorial, won't get into dog fights and won't mark their territory everywhere. And if your dog isn't fixed, once I was at the dog park and this other dog barked at a dog because he wasn't neutered, so your dogs MIGHT not get along, but I don't think it'll have anything to do with it......GOOD LUCK! And, I suggest you neuter him.

ok. merely how previous are you? Do you have testicles or a uterus? while you're removing a woman's uterus, can she have a toddler? (of direction no longer! comparable with a dogs!) in case you eliminate a guy's testicles, can he make a woman pregnant? (of direction no longer! comparable with a dogs!) Spaying is to eliminate the uterus from a woman dogs. A uterus is what the puppies strengthen in. Vets won't spay a pregnant dogs. Neutering is removing the testicles from a male dogs. The testicles incorporate the sperm with the help of which the male impregnates the female. I unquestionably advise spay and neuter of all puppy canines for their wellbeing and risk-free practices. You shouldn't bring the puppy home until he is at least 8 weeks old. And you should definitely neuter him. It often times relaxes them and makes them easier to handle. If you have him neutered then you don't have to worry about any unplanned puppies that you need to find homes for, you will be helping to reduce the pet overpopulation problem. Plus it can reduce risks of many different health problems. Once you get your puppy, when he is 8 weeks old, take him to the vet and talk to them about any concerns you have. Good luck with the new puppy!

No, he won't go insane, but he is at far greater risk of being an unsuitable pet by going to his new home at 6 weeks. Reputable breeders do not let the puppies leave until 10-12 weeks old, as they learn so much from their mother at that age about how to be a good, respectable, well mannered family member.

He won't go insane - I have had many neutered dogs and their personalities are more stable and they are less likely to wander off. Get it done before age 6 months.

he's not going to go crazy. neutering him will help calm him down, which is a good thing. neutered dogs are less likely to get in fights, run away, live longer, have less health problems and to not obey your commands.

trust us! he won't go crazy :]
