I recently accepted a job in DC and i plan on driving up there this weekend.I currently reside in Lithonia, which is off I-20.Since i live off I-20 i was told i can take I-20E to 95N.When I mapquest it says to take 85N.Which do you think is quicker? I was thinking since I'm already near Conyers, I can take the straight shot through SC.Opinions?

I travel the route from DC to Atlanta quite often. In fact, have been driving from city to city non stop for over 45 years now. Can remember when the road two way. But to answer your question. If you take route 20 to 95 the highway is better. Route 85, on the other hand is bumpier and not as smooth. The traffic on 85 is slower.

95 is quicker, a more modern highway. And more places of interest along to way. Bottom line.

Florence is a great town to spend your holyday; see more with hotelbye . Florence's museums, palaces, and churches house some of the greatest creative gifts in the world. The most used and essential museum in Florence are: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello and the Accademia. Churches like: Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce are veritable art galleries. In Florence you can also begin to see the great and varied artwork collection stored in the Pitti Palace. The Palazzo Pitti (The Pitti Palace) is really a big 15th century palace located on the quieter south bank of the Arno River. The palace was long time the home of Florence's rulers till 1919, when it was approved to the Italian state, which changed the palace right into a museum complex. Regardless of its metamorphosis, from noble home to a state-owned community building, the palace still keeps the air and environment of an exclusive variety in a grand house.

personnally I think 85N is quicker cuz I-95 is at least 4 hours away from you (20 and 95 connect in Florence, SC).

I-85 is what 20 minutes from you on 285?

Sean, I drove a truck from Atlanta thru D.C. a lot over the years, and honestly, which ever way you want to go is up to you. I have done both ways many times, and its not much difference either way. It will be strictly up to you. If you go 20 to 95 be sure to stop at South of the Border. Its a big tourist trap, but its interesting! Good luck, and you will be fine either way, and good luck on the new job!

I absolutley hate mapquest because the provide both bad directions and completely unrealistic point -to point times
Try this instead
I-75 NB to I-81 NB to I-66 EB allow 13 -14 +hours.
and I-81 is just a great road to drive on
Safe trip
