Don't do it just to spite her. If you really want to do it explain that to her and she may understand but if you want to join you are old enough to make that decision.

You have your life and your mom has hers.
Get a certified copy of your birth certificate now as well as your Social Security Card and drivers license. Then when you turn 18 you can enlist in the Marines without your mom.
Thousands of military people do this every year. Parents don't have to agree with your life choices, but being a Marine is nothing to be ashamed of. Just wait till you are 18 and go for it.
The east coast gets very hot and very humid so fall and spring would be ideal unless you like being a million degrees hot all day and all night long.

One of the first things you will be taught in boot camp is to respect and listen to your parents. You should work WITH them on such a big decision. If you really want to join you should work hard to sell them on the idea of you joining. Consider it your first mission to be a marine to convince your mom that you should join and help bolster our fighting force and how much you will get out of it as a person to grow and become an even stronger person and the skills you will learn and the dedication honor and pride you will learn while being a marine. Just make sure you go over the reasons for yourself on why you want to become a marine and join only for the right reasons.

As a parent with adult aged and teenage children, it is difficult to let go of the children. Parents have protected their children, provided and watched their children grow. It is not easy to let a child make a decision such as this but parents have to let go of their children at some point.
I recommend you speak with your mother since you want her blessing. It will make it easier for her to let you go if she gives her blessing. If you are 18 or older, the choice is yours but you want to depart the nest under good terms, especially with your mother. Explain to her the good points, how you will become responsible, mature, provide for yourself. Explain how you will continue your education. Talk to her about your healthcare and how it is provided along with dental care. Set her up with email if she isn’t using it, explain you will call often and give her updates. Leave her a contact list so she can notify of you of any family emergencies.
The bottom line, parents care and it is not easy to let go. Parents will still be watching over you even when you are in your mid forties. It is a natural reaction to having children. So, it is for you to decide but I don’t recommend you hide it from her. Make sure you keep her informed on your status.

First think about if you really want to join. I was in the military, not the marines, and it was terrible for me. I went in only because I didn't know what else to do with my life and it was such a mistake so make sure it's what you really want. If I was your mother I wouldn't want you going either, this is a dangerous time to join the military.

Warrior-breed!
Cut the ambilical cord and exchange it for a rip-cord!!
Avoid P.I. during the winter and the summer. Winter sucks, cold! Summer is humid and rampant with sand fleas!!!
good luck!!
