I bought live oysters at the market about 48 hours ago and put them in the fridge with a wet towel over them. When I pulled them out, they were all frozen! Are they still good (since they were frozen) or should I just toss them out?

they are stil good, they were just frozen, but if you serve them raw, the taste and texture won't be the same. they are still safe to eat, just cook into oyster pan roast (it's an oyster stew containing heavy cream and oyster juice and hot sauce)

they are still good you can eat some raw just as soon as they thaw out but once you start thawing them out you have to open them all and what you can't eat raw you have to package again to freeze or cook that them that day. next time you buy live oysters if it is around 55 degrese outside just set the sack outside in an ice chest and they will stay good for 2 days like that and if it is warmer than that buy a small bag of ice and put them in an ice chest with the bag of ice and they will be godd for a few days, you don't have to put a wet towel on them.

if their shells are closed they should be ok. if their shells are open, individually tap them hard witht the blunt end of a knife. if there is no movement, then they are bad and need to be thrown out. If they open or close a little bit they are ok to go ahead and cook. Also, if they have a strong smell I would say to throw them out. it's not worth the risk. If there is movement, they are closed, and no smell, I say go for it and Happy New Years!

Since they froze they died and aren't suitable for consumption raw - you can however use them in any cooked recipe you wish - like oysters Rockefeller, soup or stuffing. Good Luck!
