Someone may have thought it was chatting.

It would go under chatting.
Yahoo Answers is screw and busted at times. I got a violation for not a question or an answer when I posted two questions in one thread.
If you have any questions or concerns then try and contact them for a fair hearing. Even though they most likely won't give you one, it is worth a shot.

Sorry, but I had to report this question. No particular reason, it just seem like the right thing.

some people are just idiots and will report you for anything they don't want to hear.

Lol, I think Yahoo gives everyone a violation notice if someone reports them. I doubt they even look to see if it violated anything.

Haha, I'm not sure. That's sort of ridiculous, though, eh? Is there any way you can write to the team and find out why?

Perhaps that is considered to be in the category of "chatting" as opposed to giving an answer to a question.

I think that they would consider that "not a question or answer", because it's not an actual answer to the question itself. (It might be a *response*, but it's not an *answer*.)
(I've gotten violations for the same thing...I think we all have.)
