He wants you to praise him for everything that's good, even if YOU are the one who did it, but takes none of the blame when things go wrong, even though everything was made by him and belongs to him and he ultimately is responsible for it. I never quite got that. "All our righteousness is as dirty rags," as the saying goes, but no natural calamity like a hurricane or tsunami or anything all, all of which is God's beautiful creation, merits any blame. Why?

How it works is like this, a star athelete pulls out an amazing last second victory. In the interviews he says "God was with me at that crucial moment." And many of his team mates look reverently skyward, or kiss a crucifix, or cross themselves. The star of the losing team then gets up and neglects to tell his fans, "Well, I guess God just didn't want me to win today. He must have made me make that mistake on the last second crucial play." No, indeed, instead he says, "Well, I guess my head wasn't quite in the game at that moment." Now as to WHY this works? I have no effing clue. Us and the devil cause everything that goes wrong in the world. God can give us inspiration and help us through it but he really doesn't 'own' the earth, Satan does. Therefore, He really is not at blame.
