No you will have to come up with the money yourself if not married or eligible because of rank.

The whole issue depends on whether or not your chain of command will allow you to continue living off post. If they do, and you have a statement of non-availability from the post housing office you will receive BAH and the w/out dependent rate. However, only Servicemember's in the rank of E-6 and above are authorized BAH in their own right due to their rank, so the Chain of Command has every right to make you live in the barracks, if that happens you will onlyy be entitled to BAH-Rebate. All this can be found in the Joint Federal Travel Regulation, Chapter 10 http://dodtravelregs.hqda.pentagon.mil/propub/template.htm?view=main

As a PFC who is now single, you do not qualify for BAH. Sorry for your luck...as the saying goes; "bend over for the big green weenie...."

if you already have a contract from before the divorce for the house note you should be eligible to maintain your BAH

Technically unless you have children then no you are no longer eligible. E5 and above or any paygrade with dependents. You are neither now unless you have a child with your ex wife. You could run a special request chit asking to keep your BAH given the prior situation and your house.

You can read all about it in the DJMS FMR. About a million pages of everything having to do with military finance and pay. You are better off asking to keep it because normally they won't put someone into financial hardship by taking away BAH. It is complicated but it is up to your chain of command. If you lost a paygrade it seems you may not be on the best of terms with them right now. Good luck.

There are 2 types of BAH, single and with dependents. Are they requiring you to live in the barracks since you have been demoted or do you have permission to live off post? If you have permission to live off post, you should get single bah. If not, you'll have to live in the barracks and forfeit bah.

BTW- what the heck did you do to get demoted?

Your chain of command will be the ones that will determin if you recieve BAH or not. It is almost allways optional to recieve BAH BAH is normally only given when either your chain of command feels you deserve it or when your local command can not accomidate you with proper housing (and they sure dont want you a wife and childeren living in the typical barracks or a barracks hall! )
I used to be in the coast guard doing barracks work most of the time and it just about allways came down to local command. Our base policy was to reward people that achieved e-4 and to allow them to live off base and recieve BAH if they desired to. Otherwise they had to be married in order to recieve BAH.
I am sorry to hear about your demotion and divorce i am guessing that things over the past year have been really messy. If you have childeren and you have custody there is a better then average chance that your local command will work with you and give you BAH. However if you are now single and lost rank because married life spliied over into your work life and you got some NJP then the sad news is that your will likely not get BAH and will have to find out what to do with that house soon.
And just a piece of advice from me on a personal side here. Tommorow is another day and another chance to make things better.

Sounds like you had some problems besides your house, losing two pay grades is tough. Either you went through a Courts Martial or had several articles 15's back to back to include a field grade. If that is the case, I do not believe you will receive much assistance from your chain of command. I don't believe you wil be keeping your BAH since you are no longer married and a PFC. Now if you have children and custody then that could be different.

Do you have any dependents, even partial custody? If so yes.

If not you will need to get a waver from the commander to not live in the barracks.

I would like to think they would help you out, but if they just took your rank, they probably think you're a dirt bag and may not get you the waver.

you don't have an entitlement to BAH because you own a house. Unless you want to pay out of pocket you may have to sell.
