Most laws regarding knives are to prevent concealed weapons. Assuming it is under the maxium length limit in your state, and not concealed (it shouldn't be if it is on your belt) then you should have no problems. I would be careful not to carry it in certain public places, however, libraries, hospitals, post offices, police stations. You get the idea.

A lock knife is against the regulation indoors the united kingdom regardless of the size of blade. As are flick knives and butterfly knives and knives that are definitely not of direction knives. you are able to hold a knife with a blade much less then 3 inches see you later as there's a valid purpose for wearing that blade, eg a fishing knife jointly as fishing or a painter/decorator having a stanley knife jointly as working and you besides ought to ought to desire to be 18 to purchase blades (no count selection if knife, razor or different). in case you get caught with a knife by capacity of technique of the police then they're going to arrest you for having a bladed article or, in case you're wearing a lock knife, an offensive weapon. in case you're stopped then you definately ought to have been doing something which made the police suspicious of you. There are in basic terms some people who can legitimately carry knives and that they in many cases do not charm to the attention of the police. you have got the means to desire to artwork on your verbal replace skills, your mouth is plenty greater advantageous probably to get you out of subject then a knife is.

A folding knife with a clip or a pocket knife with a sheath probably. A fixed blade might (I do not know for sure) get you into trouble.
Call your local police or sheriff's office

If your talking about while your hunting then I don't see where anyone would think about saying anything. Here in Kansas I'm not only allowed to carry my hunting knife but I can also carry my pistol while hunting. I always do. It's on my belt and in the open for lots of reasons. Self defense one of them. Snakes or wild dogs or boars. Or If I just don't get that clean kill of my game I don't have to waste another rifle shot when I got my pistol. If your not hunting and you don't need it for the job then there is no other reason to carry one.

no one here can really answer that question for you as it depends on what is legal in your state and even sometimes in your county, i think your best bet is to contact the prosecuters office in your county and see what the limits are, and they may have different regulations yet for hunting and hunting season, i know in Michigan they are quite strict, no double sided or serrated edge knives, and i believe the blade length can be no more than 2 1/2 inches or maybe 3, a friend of mine her daughter got a concealed weapons charge even though the way most people would measure the knife put it under the 3 inch line in her county, but they measure that particular knife a different way and it put her over the 3 inch limit, so she caught that charge, it is just not worth it, so make sure that you check carefully

Might depend on what kind of knife you are
talking about. Lots of states have laws
against carrying a knife with a blade over
a certain length. Check with your law enforcement
people.

not in any schools! Other than that I don't see why not as long it is within legal size (blade length not to exceed 6 inches) Might be best to check with the Lake County Sheriffs Dept though!
