My Granny was my only Grandparent living and she was lovely and warm when I was sad. She was very fat and wobbled from side to side when she walked but I loved her dearly. Happy New Year over there in that lovely warm country.

I dearly loved my grandfather. He was a quiet man. My grandfather was gentle with animals and little kids. I never heard him raise his voice. I admired his down-to-earth sensibility and wry sense of humor. I married a man who is a lot like my grandfather, quiet, gentle, sensible. I guess that is the ultimate tribute to a grandfather I loved.

Grandma Annie aka Granny Big died Jan 2005. Big raised me in the absence of decent parents. She is no longer with this world and I have never been so so so lonely in it without her.

I miss your comfort, your words of insightfulness and I regret every day since Christmas 2004 that I did not spend your last Christmas on earth with you.

I took for granted that you would never die and you would wait for me to graduate undergrad studies to return to the United States.

You are in a better place now Big and I want to say once again that I truly hurt with missing you so much!

Mario, I was not fortunate with grand parents.Mother came from Italy and both her parents were gone before she left. My paternal grandfather was dead before I was born so I only had my paternal grandmother until I was six.She only talked to my cousin and me in Italian, but she was very fluent in English. My use of the language died with her. Our grandchildren have grandparents from both their mothers" and fathers' sides which is an indication of longevity in life.

My Nana always called me love. Whether answering a questions or talking to her on the phone it was always "Yes Love" or "Goodbye Love". It just made me feel very special and well... loved.

Of my 4 grandparents, all but one died before I was born, which makes it a bit tough to match them.
