You could always tell him.
Guys aren't like women, we don't understand clues, hints signals or any of the other deliberate miscommunication that females engage in.
If you want him to know something, tell him. Failing that, Marc M's advice above probably would also work.

Dear Friend:
there are some steps that may help you:

1- Great Perfume that i can smell it from far away. Generally boys are like dogs so our sense of smell is really powerfull and really effects us.
2- when he looks at you try to make eye-contact. wink if u have to. winking really helps.
3- smile more to him when you eye-contact with him
4- touch him more, when you touch a guy more than usual he know there is something going on.
Example:
when you shake his hand try to feel him more and hold his hand for a bit longer than usual.

Ask him what kind of things that he is interested in and see if you have somethings in common. Maybe over lunch or something like that. Lunch doesn't lead to any obligations after wards. Unless you make them at lunch.
