It can be a urinary tract infection from something she ate outside. It could be poisonous if she did eat something, so your best bet is to take her to vet. In the mean time try to limit her fluid intake and also take her on frequent walks.

Sounds like maybe a Uinary track Infection or maybe what is it called when people just leak usually in older people. Anyway you might try putting a sanitary diper u know like the one for when they are in heat on her if its is the peeing you are worried about until you get her to the vet as you did not say she was in any pain or uncomfortable if she is take her to an emergency clinic it could be some kind of stone or a tumor pushing on her bladder!! Good luck. I love GSD and have one of my own.

It sounds as if she may have a blockage that doesn't allow her bladder to drain.
take her to the vet.
she may also have a bladder infection, or growth.
*the next time she has to pee, take her out, and observe if she is able to pee, and how much comes out.
I suspect a blockage or growth.
this can be resolved at the vet's.
do not use any type of human medication, as some people may suggest.
this can kill your dog.
Your GSD is reaching that certain age, and she is quite old for a large dog.
she is a lucky dog to have a caring owner such as you are.
please call the vet, and have her checked out.
don't wait. if she has a blockage, it is probably quite uncomfortable for her, and she could develop worse infections if she cannot drain the urine properly.
good luck and happy new year

There is nothing you can give her until you take urine to the vet and have an urine analysys preformed on her urine. Sorry! Just be sure you get her outside more frequently and don't yell at her when you find those spots on the floor. It's not her fault. Also, just for the sake of your floors if you do have carpet. Try to keep her in areas that might have tile, wood, etc. Easier to clean up.

I had a 12 year old chow and it had a similar problem. The vet just said it was old and couldn't contain it. The vet tried to explain that its like when old people need diapers.
I woundnt consider 7 years that old so my advice is to take it to the vet, it may have some organ issue.

Have her urine tested for infection.
But also w/spayed female dogs that's been spayed too early,.. it's my experience that later on in life w/loss hormones, females tend to leave "puddles" or spots when napping or lying down. They can't help it.
"Stilbestrol" hormone in tablets is sometimes given by vet to stop this when it happens.
Suggest to vet, if tests are neg. for urinary infect.
Gd. luck.

She may need to be put on a drug called Proion
It is for spay incontinence in spayed females.
It is a common thing in many large breed older female dogs.
It takes some time to get the dosage regulated but with the right dose the problem goes away almost completely and the cost of the meds is not to bad.
We have had great success with this med and several of the older girls in rescue.
Good luck.

It does sound like a urinary tract infection. She needs antibiotics from a vet -- but I guess you can wait until after New Year's Day. In the meantime, try to get her to lay on towels and make sure she drinks as much as possible.
Good luck.

It could be a urinary tract infection; however, normally that makes the animal urinate around the house- not urinate while sleeping or just sitting there. It may be a kidney problem.
You need to get the dog to the vet to be evaluated and treated as soon as possible.
