Please, no biting or chasing me up a tree! LOL I'm just curious whether it's as opinionated in here as it is in Cats.

In Cats, it's feeding raw v. not feeding raw; the best brands of food; canned v. dry; declaw or not. Perhaps others, I forget.

What are all the arguments about in here?

Oh yeah, Cats can get quite heated too!

What I meant to say is - we do get our share of "my cat is ______ what should I do" type questions...but at least many of them add details saying that they do plan on going to the vet but they just want to know what might be wrong.

Excellent answers and very informative! I can't choose a BA so I'm putting this up for vote.

And to add to the fun - if I had a dog I too would be anti-crop. And it would eat raw meat and be a mutt from the shelter.

Good luck all!

Surely you'll get opinionated people no matter where you ask your question.

It's stuck between breeding and neutering/spaying dogs! Then people answer those questions they either say don't/do or... they give LOTS of details!

bad and/or uneducated dog owners. backyard/inbred dog breeders, bad dog food, untrained animals, just plain stupid people. oh..maybe i should delete the last comment.. oh and may i add, people that buy dogs without knowing anything about the breed of dog they buy. i bought it because it was cute....

Oh boy, let me tell you as a fellow cat....that the dog section is WAYYYYYY WORSE!!!!! than the cat section. People here are nuts and ask even more stupid questions. Run, run the other way! Oh...arguments: raw vs not, best kibble, best name, breeding, training....everything.

Most of the arguments around here center on responsible versus irresponsible breeding.

There are plenty of discussions about good quality food, raw diets, etc, but none of them seem to get heated.

Lots and lots of rants and arguments about whether Pit Bulls are sweet, wonderful dogs, or deadly beasts salivating to kill someone's children.

Some tail docking/ear cropping arguments, too.

Here's what I want to know: How many people in the Cats section come in and say something like, "My cat's eyes are bleeding, and I can't afford a vet. What do you think is wrong?"

Does that happen a lot there? Happens all the time, here.

Some of the most argued topics here:
- best brands of food
- raw feeding good or bad
- backyard breeders
- petstore puppies
- mutt versus purebred

The backyard breeder thing as well as the "Which dog breed should I get" and of course "I think my dog is dying, what should I do"
Oh, you can't forget the ones that post "VETS ONLY blah blah blah"

Oh geez! Just post a question that someone doesn't read the way you meant it. Or ask a question that the more experience people find "stupid". And don't even ask a question about breeding, even if you are not planning to breed. I add more to the list every day!!

Breeding ethics and other breeding issues (this is easily the most common, and rightfully so IMO), training techniques (or not training at all, and then blaming the dog for misbehaving), and quality food vs. poor quality food are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Having "outside dogs" is also controversial and causes quite a few disagreements. Spaying/neutering vs. not spaying/neutering is also a big one.

"Opinionated" is an understatement!

Good Dog food vs Bad Dog food
Cropped vs Not Cropped
Reputable breeders vs Mixed breed breeders
Going to the vet vs Home remedies
Training vs Allowing the dog to do what he wants and dumping him at the shelter..

There are many..
