we have a mix seafod platter in thefreezer can we defrost it safely in an hour?
microwave?

all of the above are correct but i will state the obvious for others not understanding
microwaving disrupts the cell membranes of the food,thus ruining its ability to retain moisture and flavour
cold water works but don't let the water actually touch the product,keep in bag,the water would leach out flavour and ruin the consistency of the product

Running it under cold water is the fastest and safest way to defrost

DONOT MICROWAVE IT!!!! Just take the platter and transfer it to a leak proof ziplock back and place in cool water for about 20-30mins. It will be perfectly thawed and ready to cook/eat.

the best way to defrost it would be in a sinkful of cold water, changing the water about every 30 minutes or so until its thawed. I would not recommend the microwave as it can partially cook the food as it "thaws" it.
