When you take the cake out of the oven cover the entire top of the baking dish with aluminum foil, cover well and make sure to not burn yourself. The moisture from the hot cake will get trapped inside causing the cake to become moist. Everybody raves over my cakes being moist, and that is all that I do. Just leave it covered until cooled enough to add icing.

If it asks for water use milk. Milk makes brownies and cakes moist.

There are lots of ingredients you can use to add moisture to a cake. If using oil, substitute half of the oil asked for with applesauce.
Sour cream, mayonnaise, or buttermilk are easily combined with egg yolks to add moisture.
Depending on the flavor you are seeking, you can even add a jar of organic baby food-- carrots, bananas, squash, etc, all add additional moisture, plus a great flavor to the overall product! Hope this helps!

I'm with Buddie...Hershey's syrup will do it nicely. I put Hershey's syrup in brownies for super moist brownies and since brownies and cake are very similar it should work just as well.
Good Luck

I have used marmalade before but with spices to make a deliciously moist orange cake.

1/4 cup Applesauce or Prune Puree....neither of which will have a taste when done.....
Adjust the liquid by about 2 tablespoons.
Also, a couple Tbl of mayonnaise will help make it moist, but only do one or the other....
Use Buttermilk instead of water too.

Buttermilk is a great way.
Or you could use sour cream.
Or you could use extra oil if the regular recipe calls for it, extra couple tablespoons would do.
Or you could use applesauce instead of oil.

Add some coffee yogurt. It makes it super moist and the light coffee taste really brings out the flavor of the chocolate.
