I am trying to install my hp printer to my pc which is windows millenium edition and i am wondering if windows me is different to windows 2000 ? as my printer is unable to be installed as it is asking for windows 2000, i thought that windows millenium edition was a special edition of windows 2000 ?? any help would be appreciated as i cant afford to buy windows xp or 2000 at the moment. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Get on the internet and go to the HP website Under support look for the drivers for your printer and see if there is a driver you can download specifically for ME.
ME is not 2000--it is more like WIndows 98 THIRD edition.
ME has two good things about it---I don't remember what they are---but you should upgrade to XP as soon as you can.

As others have said, ME is old, and if your printer is new, it is very probable that it does NOT run under ME (there is no driver for the printer to run on ME). I know this sucks, it means we have to do things like buy new computers and new operating systems, but that's the way things run. If there is no driver for your printer, you probably need to seriously consider the upgrade to XP.

Go to the manufacturer of the printers web site, click on support and see if Windows Me is supported. Look for drivers for ME

you should be able to find a driver for the printer on Win ME. (BTW Win ME is the worst version microsoft ever developed...unless you count Win 3.0 ;-)

just key in your printer model and then execute the search. you should see a link to download the driver for Win ME

Time for a new printer, or a new computer, ME is no longer supported by many manufactures, one its old, second its not a stable platform.
If you post the make/model. at least someone can check for you.
