If I run a line of cable from a splitter and connect to the TV in our bedroom, do I need a separate box to watch a different channel than what's on in the living room? I have the line and the splitter, but don't want to waste my time if I can't choose a different channel.

My goal is to watch the Twilight Zone marathon on Sci Fi. My boyfriend isn't too excited about it, but I love the oldschool TZ :0)

You don't need a separate box. You will be able to watch different channels but you wont have DVR without having a box. I used to do the same thing, It works great!

Dawn's suggestion is excellent. I have a digital box in my personal apartment located in the living room. In order to watch any of the 475 channels in my bedroom, (where I don't have a TV), I have too have a second digital box installed at no cost by the cable company.

Before stringing the line just experiment by hooking it up to the extra TV while it is sitting near other TV in the living room.

You will find out quickly and with minimal fuss whether it will work.

If the tv is cable ready then that is all you need, keep in mind you won't be able to watch premium channels, but you will be able to watch all the basic channels
