I find it an invasion of privacy. When I am at my own house I don't want other peoples religious views pushed on me.

If my house is on fire that is a real threat. There is no metaphysical danger now, you only think there is but i know there isn't.

I pretty much agree with you, but you don't have to open your door to them. I do think that going door to door to preach and try to convert people is tacky and against Christian teachings. It's not appropriate to go onto someone else's private property and tell them what they ought to believe or how to behave. It's rather presumptuous and invasive. We have it happen here often enough that I'm ready to put a sign out on my door.

You know, you got a point there. Now I am thinking when Jesus went preaching, he went somewhere out in "public" where the crowds could gather. Jesus never went house to house unless he was invited there to meet with other people, and to talk, eat, and rest. They should not go unless they are invited! They should be going out in public where a crowd can gather!

We actively go to peoples houses just as Jesus did and taught his disciples to do.(Acts.5:42;20:20;Mark 6:7)
Jesus before his ascension to heaven placed one more command on his disciples and that was to "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations,....teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you....."(Mat28:19,20)
Keep this scipture in mind also:
"This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations and then the end will come."(Mat.24:14)
Count yourself warned.

Why do you all assume we get points for talking to you? We do not. We take care of our own salvation between us and God. You have little to do with it.

It is part of God's orders to give you a chance at life. That is why we knock on your door. We can think of dozens of more fun and relaxing things to do. Are you aware of how much money we could save just in gas money?

But NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! We slep our way out to knock on your door to give you the choice of who will you serve--Jehovah or Satan. If you slam the door in our face, you have made your choice. If it is your last chance, so be it. As the Bible tells us, shake the dust off our feet and go on. Your life is no longer on our heads for not giving you a chance.

1) This world is obviously falling apart. - —2 Tim 3:1, 13.
2) Man has tried, but their rule is obviously not working. - Jer 10:23
3) God promises to bring about a paradise earth for the righteous and who act in harmony with his will, but he first promises Armageddon which will destroy those who refuse to do that. - Revelation 16:14
4) He has given all true Christians the command to sound out this warning before it is too late. - Matthew 10:7; Luke 9:2; Matthew 28:19, 20

So, you can liken this to this illustration: If your house was on fire in the middle of the night, would you be annoyed that someone woke you up to get you out before it was too late?

Mainly, because we love God and our neighbors. We believe that we live in the last days. We're sure most people want to see better conditions in the world. We encourage people what we need to do if we are to survive the end of this world, from the Bible that is.

Then have your name put on the Do Not Call list. All local Witnesses will then know not to call on you.

I welcome the Witnesses because most of my relatives in Michigan are Witnesses. I know they nicely welcomed Mom and I to some sort of Christmas dinner (I know they don't usually celebrate Christmas) when we landed in Detroit Christmas 2001 and stayed to New Years' 2002. I even read the Watchtower Bible during my high school days and got my anxiety up about the blood transfusion being a (mortal?) sin.

But, warning! They will get a good counter-lecture on non-denominational Protestantism (a kind of mish-mash American and Southern Baptist, Methodist, Seventh Day Adventist, Assembly of God, and maybe some Lutheran).

I have also started sending the 2007 Year in Review letter instead of the Christmas card to my Witness friends and family. Otherwise, across the board, I do send Christian-themed Christmas cards as a socially-tolerated once-a-year low-key evangelistic device as well as a I-care-enough-about-you-to-remember-my-friends-family-and-everybody-I-do-business-with-around-town.

We are commanded to preach and teach God's Kingdom to all "sheep-like" ones who are thirsting for the truth. matt 24:14

If you're not interested, all you have to do is say "no thanks!"

The members of the Watch Tower Society do their outreach because it is part of their faith system. In some ways saving others is like gaining points on this site. With enough points you can get into the Kindgom.

They are just people doing what people do in life.
