My 3 year old son is pretty thin (unlike his brother who was thick-waisted at this age) and all the pants I have that are the right length for him right now have too big a waist and fall off.

Anyone else have this problem? Can you suggest any brands of jeans/pants that tend towards smaller waists?

OK, OK guys...YES, I did think of a belt. Not a bad suggestion, but my son is going through potty training and I really don't want to put any extra "problems" in his way when he goes to pull down his pants. He's at that stage where he wants to do everything himself so putting on a belt that I will have to take off for him every time he goes potty is not going to help the process. Later, it'll be great, I'm sure.

Thanks everyone about the adjustable waist thing...didn't know about that. Wish I could vote for more than one of you for best answer.

I have the same problem, and pants with a regular elastic waist just fall off, too. Belts help, but then he has trouble going potty by himself.
I always buy pants with an adjustable elastic waist and cinch 'em up. I think most Levis have the adjustable waist (you can get them at Target and Costco), and I've gotten them from Gymboree and Hanna Andersson, too.

Yes elastic waist help alot and also Wal-Mart and Target make adjustable wastes for the boys inside the pants, so that you can adjust them to fit the kid. They work really well. They come in Wrangler and other brands too. Also you might want to invest in getting him a belt

Perhaps you could buy him pants with an elastic waist band. Maybe you could buy him a pair of children's suspenders, to hold his pants up as a second suggestion.

My son had the same problem! Target's pants were not made for him, so I shopped at Wal-Mart. Get the slims. If you have a Meijer in your area, I know they sell slims, as well.

one solution tht u can use to solve this problem is buying ur son pants with the elastic around the waist. this will not only prevent them from falling off, but if ur son is potty-trained he can simply pull his pants down to do his business.

Sears used to make a "slim" version of their jeans.
I had the same problem when mine were young.
