It'd be best for him to go to the Vet. Sometimes dogs get stomach bugs just like people do. Not the same strains, but ones that dogs can get. If he is otherwise active, that is good. He probably did not ask to go outside because it hit him suddenly and he wasn't able to.
If you mother will not take him to a Vet, at least see if she will buy some canned pumpkin pie filling (the plain kind that does not have any added sugar or spices- just plain pureed pumpkin). It's in the baking aisles at most grocery stores and it's very cheap. If your dog is a large dog you can give him a forth to a half of a small can of it. Then each time he goes, repeat. Usually dogs really like the taste of it.
Also make sure he is drinking water, and in case his diarrhea gets worse you mother could also get pedialyte. If any blood comes out, get to a Vet immediately and don't give food or water before going, just in case it's pancreatitis or something else very serious.
I have a dog that had pancreatitis and it was very hard on her but she surived and is healthy and on a restricted diet.
I am not a Vet and no Vet would tell you, online, what is wrong with your dog because he would have to be examined. But I am writing this because I know there are adults that refuse to take their animals to a Vet and at least this (canned pumpkin) is something you can try and it won't be harmful.
Feeding a dog that has pancreatitis will make it much sicker. My dog could have nothing (No water and no food of any kind) by mouth and I had to give her fluids under her skin every fifteen minutes in rounds around the clock with an hr. between four sticks. She had to have the I.V. fluid plus antibiotics and anti-nausea meds added to the bag. She was so sick! That's a very serious illness.
If your dog eats rawhides or jerky dried meat products from pet stores or grocery stores, made for pets, I'd stop feeding him any of that. Also avoid giving him table scraps or fatty food. Hope your dog will be okay and that your mom will take him to a Vet.

Give it a day and see what happens. Also, a dog can go a day without food, so i would say hold the food for a day, give the chance for whatever he got into, to get out of him. Then feed him a little bit a few times the next day. If it isnt better, then take him to the vet.

Well did you ask to take him to the vet? He obviously has something, and it could be anywhere from something small like the stomach-flu that he could get over with some medication, or it could possibly be the start of parvo. Parvo is somewhat rare, and if you take him now, you can make sure its not anything too bad. Atleast call and talk to your vet clinic for opinions.

IF your dog has active diarrhea do not feed him anything for a day. Make sure he is drinking fresh water. And if he is showing no other signs (such as acting like he doesn't feel well the you can probably not go to the Vet.) If he is not drinking or is acting like he doesn't feel good get him to the Vet. Monitor what he drink and how often he poops and pees.
After he has fasted for a day then re-introduce very mild foods. (My dogs do well on cottage cheese mixed with Cream of Wheat as this point) Other people will use boiled hamburg & rice, or pumpkin. If he is fine with this for a dog with no more problems then add back in his mormal food.
If at any time he stops drinking, acts sick, acts like he has a fever, or has trouble moving get him to a Vet.

If you see blood in his stool take him to vet or if he's having trouble breathing -- otherwise:

Get him to drink water or even Pedialyte if he looks dehydrated.

No regular food or treats.

When you think it's passed then give him a little cooked white rice and boiled chicken (no skin w/ fat removed) chop up fine and mix together for a few days.

If stools still loose after 2-3 days take to vet.

Tell your mom to take him to the Vet now or you will report her for animal cruelty. I am very serious when I say this.

In the meanttime, give the dog pure canned pumpkin.
