Carroll Shelby has a chili seasoning mix that is very good, by the time you purchase all of the spices it will be a pretty expensive endeavor. It has different components so you can make it mild or spicy, thick or runny. This might not be made from scratch, but you will be making it at home.

I make mine in the crock pot and let it simmer all day
mix in crock pot in this order to make it easier
1 can tomato paste
1 can tomato juice (V-8 or whatever)
1 lg can diced tomato
1lb cooked ground beef or ground chicken or turkey
1 diced green pepper
1 diced onion
4-5 stalks chopped celery
1 can rinsed kidney beans
chili power
set on low for 5-8 hours, or you can make it in a pan and let it simmer for awhile

Home Recipe for Waffle House Chili
2 (15 ounce) cans pinto beans (not drained)
1 lb lean hamburger
1/4 lb breakfast sausage
2 cups chopped yellow onions
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 beef bouillon cubes or 2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon oregano
Brown hamburger, sausage, and onion together in 6 quart saucepan.
Add pinto beans (not drained), add can of tomato sauce and add enough water to rinse can.
Add beef bouilion ganules.
If using bouilion cubes, disolve in 1/4 cup water then add to the pan.
Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, oregano, cumin, chili powder and sugar.
Blend thoroughly.
Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmmer for 15 minutes.
Serve.

brown hb with onion and garlic,(don't burn garlic)
if you want it the same day, use canned beans like pinto or kidney. dried ones must soak 1st
add beans, some vegatable juice and chili powder
