God helps those who help themselves. He doesnt expext us to just sit and veg out but to do good work and be an example to others.

Just because we have God in our lives doesn't mean we are perfect. We have faults and we need to improve ourselves and strive to be more like Jesus. We struggle to become better people, but having God at the center of our lives makes it much easier.

New Year resolutions are to better ones life. That is what God wants us to do. Repent. Live like he wants us to.

Because God gives all of mankind free will. It is my choice to make that decision to give up the proverbial "addiction" or to start a "new" thing. He doesn't want robots, He wants people who "choose" to live for Him.
That being said, we are human beings, susceptible to our sinful nature and we do not always do what we should. For that, God gives us grace. That grace is what keeps me going. I know that no matter how many times I may fail, if I'm sincerely repentive in my heart, be it about not staying on a diet or giving into lust or about not being a good steward with money, or if I continually lie, or cheat, or steal, or whatever a person deals with, He is forgiving and loving.
For the next year, my resolution is to be more faithful in prayer and devotional time.

New year resolutions are for pagans, and made according to a pagan calendar. As a christian, I don't make resolutions.

I dont and I never said that...we need food, clothes, love etc.
