Are the longer, English cucumbers, more bitter than the shorter, USA-grown?

I find it is usually age that makes the most difference. If the skin has started to turn yellow I don't buy them. The English type that we get here in Oklahoma are all greenhouse grown and are never over ripe, never had a bitter one.

I find the English cucumbers slightly more bitter but more flavorful. US cucumbers are really sweet. Depends on if you are eating them in a salad, cucumber sandwiches, or cucumber soup on how strong you want the flavor. I prefer English cucumbers...

Usually guys with shorter cucumbers tend to be more bitter about the guys with the longer ones.
