Happy New Year everyone. What do you plan to do with yours?

Not any ruder than it is to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, though they may not be Christian... a more common scenario than your calendar one since people who live in the same area tend to use the same calendar.
With that said, I do not take offense when someone wishes me Merry Christmas and don't believe most would take offense for wishing them a Happy New Year.

No problem. I'm pretty sure we all use the same calendar!

Bien sur! I would be MOST offended, so don't try it - I do not worship Janus, and I don't want to deal with anyone who does! Sell your two-headed deity somewhere else! Agh, I HATE New Year's...
