... about a new cashless monetary system wherein a 'mark' is involved in the form of somthing on or in the body, in order to buy or sell ..? Would that make you worry about ' maybe the prophecy was right? ' ... i think what im asking is would you see it as just a coincidence and go along with the new system or be apprehensive enough to reject it?

I would never go along with it for common sense reasons.

I know what those "marks" would involve: a microchip, including a GPS system. In other words, our government would be able to track where we are at any given moment. It sounds very scary to me.

Anytime I answer anything about prophecies, I must give a here-here to Nostradamus because I love the Fightin' Irish.

Electronic implants are better for tracking pets than anything else. Even retina and fingerprint (Revelations: Mark upon the Head / Mark upon the Hand) scans can be counterfeited. I don't think there is a perfect answer for protecting one's financial identity.

Our economy thrives on a cash system. In a cashless environment where migrant agricultural employees salaries would be raised 3-4 times to minimum wage, the cost of food could quadruple. The same would apply to mining and manufacturing. Cash also allows for convenient management of small transactions such as donations and garage sales. Cash is also a powerful law enforcement weapon that bolsters our safety by allowing government officials to purchase information.

For those people who doubt anything like this could happen... I wonder if those people actually have any appreciation for history. Think about the countless number of emperors and kings in times past who waged racial, geo-political, economic "wars" for their profit and appeasement and the allegiance of the people to go with the program. Think about Adolf Hitler, in particular. What began as a political campaign also culminated in a racial pogrom.

It can't happen? Yeah, right. How great it must be to live in such a world of self-disillusionment. It has happened just not on the grand scale as prophesied in the End Times biblical texts.

I wonder if atheists believe they are living the most noble sort of life, as though not having belief protects them and those like them from making mistakes those with religious backgrounds have before them. That believing religion and its institutions are corrupt and therefore something to be avoided altogether. But, don't they realize they still live under governmental systems and institutions, with their own agendas and projects? That governments can easily become corrupted and have such bodies as military and law enforcement agencies under their control? Does atheism protect you from a tyrant in office? Does atheism protect you from government conflicts, wars, persecutions, unjust laws, etc.?

I think if you don't have the mark then the music stops like in those Visa commercials. Then every one has a bad day because their bagel fell in someone else's coffee and man it will be a mess. Gosh, if only everyone had that mark then the music would keep playing.

Don't know what you're taking but I hope you brought enough for everyone.

There are no such thing as prophecies.

A *real* prophecy would be something like this "An earthquake will hit Los Angeles, California on January 8, 2008 at exactly 6:43 PST".

All prophecies thus far are, and will continue to be, fake.

My grandfather predicted debit/ATM cards. When I was little, he used to talk about how someday people wouldn't use cash anymore, just little cards. It wasn't a prophecy, it was just a little speculation from a man who was very well-educated and knew how the monetary systems of various countries worked.

I'd see it as just another outgrowth of technology. Identity theft is a problem that is getting worse all the time, and we've been using retinal scans and fingerprint scanners for a while now. It wouldn't surprise me if we started getting microchips, like veterinarians put in dogs...if there were no health risks, I'd go along with it. My every move is tracked by the government anyway, via my social insurance/social security number.

If we're getting marks - I get to choose where they stick it. I vote for my lily white... well, you know.
