How do I know if the boy i love feels the same???

Question

There is a boy i like, he is one year older than me, so 15, and lives
down the road from me. We go to the same school, but obviously are not
in the same classes, i see him around sometimes at school, but we don't
really hang out. I see him mainly when we walk home from school
sometimes in the warmer weather, and we have a good hour or two to chat.
Other than that its hard to communicate with him, a bit like inside
west-side story! Because we are in different groups, he's more on the chavvy
side and if i were anything i would be kind of emo (but not quite!). I
often have his close friends coming up to me and asking me if I like him
'coz he likes me, and although i've told no one, it seems the whole
school knows my feelings. I think he knows how i feel, but he talks to me
etc. he seems quite shy around me, but is still funny and friendly. He
gives mixed signals a lot though. All I want to know is if it seems
like he likes me, and/or how i can make him like me more and eventually
should I ask him out or should I wait for him?
