my brother was dog setting for me when i was out of town. he let my dog out to do his duty and the city (or small town police) pick him up. the thing is the court date they have scheduled is not going to work out because i plan on movie 600 miles away to a new job witch will not let me off for the time to go all the way back to take care of it and city hall refuses to schedule a earlier date. so the question is what will or can happen if i just and say f$@% it. is there a statue of limitations on such a thing if so how long. oh and my bro's is broke and would never be abile to take responsibilaty

The easiest thing to do would have your brother accept responsibility, and have them re-issue the ticket in his name. If this was the first offense, you may get some consideration by the judge. If you do get found guilty, you can work out who pays what later.

The statute of limitations only applies from the time of the violation, until the time the ticket is issued.

If a warrant is issued, it never expires.

Can't you sign the ticket and send in your fine??? Surely it isn't but a couple hundred bucks??? Is your dog worth that to you? If they make you appear to claim your dog and so on, then yeah you are screwed.

Call the city court clerk and ask them. They don't want to euthanise your dog any more than you want it to be done...If you accept responsibility for the loose dog or litter violation, then they should release the animal. IF your dog was quarrantined due to lack of vaccination records, you will have to wait the 10 days. Maybe your brother will appear on your behalf?

Pack up the trailer and make a run for it.

You better find a way to make it. They could put a warrant out for your arrest. When you have a court appearance, take it very seriously.
