The original scrolls that are the base of the bible are compiled of a library of books. When someone asks why dont you believe a book that contradicts itself, it is evident then that they are uneducated. They do not realize the reason it does not contradict, is that it was compiled of thousands of books and all the contradicting ones were thrown out. So I ask why do so many take one book, compiled so tediously and with only the information allowed, so literally.

Oh and apparently i need to clarify what i have said as some think i made up this. The bible started off when scrolls were translated and put together into on entire text. Then the Gutenberg brought the press about and mass publication began. But ever wondered where the scrolls came from? They came from scholars from all around the area roughly 70 scholars took months and months to craft these scrolls from a library of papers and "books" that had already existed before. They took what they liked at put it in these scrolls and translated it (into hebrew ;)) they left out so many other stories that "god might have told" i am not lying archaeologists will tell you this is so please research before calling me a liar. Enough said.

because God wrote the Bible to be literal unless it is very clear that He was speaking metaphorically, which can be determined through studying the original Hebrew and Greek texts.
As far as your conspiracy theory on contradicting books being thrown out, that is what most normal people call BS, but I will refer to it by its technical term, false. There are entire books written dispelling this myth. The best archaeological example being the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were dated to having existed between the late BC and very early Ad, before any organized church would have existed. These scrolls were nearly exact copies of our modern bible, proving it to be unchanged. These websites should be the most helpful:

As for religion people need to feel there is something more to this world than what we are doing now. They want to believe there is something more, a goal to reach. Could you imagine if people just said screw it a gave value to nothing and just had fun and actually did the basic things like feed and shelter one another and maintain healthy living. The ones who put value on things would lose their power and probably kill themselves.

There are people who cannot believe the teachings of the Bible unless everything is absolutely certain. That is an oxymoron. When the Bible is read with an eye to what is important about being said, you don't focus on the details but look for the message. This recognition that we can have some doubts is found in the mainline churches (and others) but generally not in the nondenominational churches. In those cases, either the pastors are trying to control the people so they maintain their positions or they are stuck in their upbringing and have not figured out a way to reach people in a mature way.

I do not see how this or any other book can be taken "literally". I also dont believe that only uneducated persons interpret the book in this way. I've met doctors and many other highly "educated" people who use this book as a guide to living in a way that feels right to them. This belief can be a source of comfort in times of abundance, as well as desperation.

The Bible has no contradictions, all that happens is people try to read a spiritual Book with carnal thinking and that is why they get confused. In order to read it correctly the gift of the Holy Spirit is needed to accurately interpret the Word of God which is alive. And it is accurate and true.

If anything should be taken literally, the bible should. The only exception would be the parable which are noted as such.

If the book with contradictions were thrown out why does the Bible still contradict itself repeatedly?
We are told this book is the word of a god. We therefore expect it to make sense and be uniform throughout. Neither is true.
