Because it has to be refrigerated and cant be on the grocery shelves. In the dairy refrigerator its cheaper to sell in plastic containers which dont have squeeze tops. I use sour cream more than ketchup or mustard and dont have any problem withthe kind of container its in.

I like both, depends on what I'm putting it on.
It's probably too thick to squeese out of a bottle like mustard or ketchup

probably because the dairy section is already crammed with bottles and cartons, the way sour cream is packaged in small tubs that are stackable is a better use of the space

I like thm both, not mixed together, though.
I think Sour Cream is too thick it would not be feasable to put it in a Bottle. It's much easier to scoop from the containers. It also may be less expensive to produce, in a container.
